Sundaresan Chandramohan and Rasmi Ranjan Tripathy present their respective work on "Oxidation Behaviour of Austenitic Stainless Steel 304HCu in Advanced Ultra Supercritical Steam" and "Organic Coating/Metal Interfacial Degradation Kinetics Study by Using Combined Novel Hydrogen Permeation Potentiometry & Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy Technique" at EUROCORR '23 held in Brussels, Belgium.

April 2023 - Rasmi Ranjan Tripathy' work "Combined Hydrogen Potentiometry and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy Approach for Quantification of Oxygen Reduction Kinetics at Buried Metal/Organic Coating Interfaces" is accepted in Journal of the Electrochemical Society (JES). Nov 2022 - Vijayshankar Dandapani gives an Invited Talk on "Organic Coating Degradation Kinetics Quantified using a Novel Hydrogen Permeation Potentiometry and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy Approach" at the International Conference and Exhibition on Materials Engineering and Technology & Advances in Heat Treatment organized by ASM International India Chapter in Mumbai.

July 2022 - Vijayshankar Dandapani chairs the session on Corrosion of Magnesium alloys at the 2nd Corrosion and Materials Degradation Web Conference organised by the MDPI open access journal Corrosion and Materials Degradation (CMD).

Vijayshankar Dandapani is invited to contribute a chapter on "Stress corrosion cracking in ceramics and glasses" to be published in the new (2nd) edition of the book Stress Corrosion Cracking: Theory and Practice by Elsevier.

June 2022 - Akhil and Aditya defend their Dual-Degree theses on "Localised corrosion behaviour of aluminium containing Cantor alloys" and "Magnetic field enhanced electro catalytic water oxidation using zinc-iron oxides" respectively. Archit defends his Master' thesis on "Prediction of organic coating delamination using machine learning". Congratulations to each one of you!

Rasmi Ranjan Tripathy presented a talk on "Novel combined hydrogen potentiometry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy approach for quantification of oxygen reduction kinetics at buried metal/organic coating interfaces" at the National Symposium on Electrochemical Science and Technology (NSEST) held at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore.

 

April 2022 - Keerthiga publishes her work "Electrochemical Corrosion Resistance of Mg Alloy ZK60 in Different Planes with Respect to Extrusion Direction" in Metals. Congratulations ! 

 

March 2022 - First publication for our group "Oxidation Behaviour of Ni-Base Superalloys in Supercritical Water: A Review" by Sundar in collaboration with Prof. VS Raja and his group. Congratulations!

 

Feb 2022 - An Indo-French proposal on "Impact of hydrogen permeation in steel on polymer adhesion" in collaboration with Universite de Bretagne Occidentale (Labsticc), Brest and the French Corrosion Institute, Brest has been accepted.

 

Dec 2021 - Sudha Gautam joins our group as a PhD candidate to work on the effect of stress and microstructure on hydrogen diffusion in dual phase steel.

 

Nov 2021 - Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), India funds our Startup Research Grant (SRG) proposal on "Hydrogen Diffusion during Deformation of Dual Phase Steel with Different Martensite Content: Novel Tensile Testing under In-situ Electrochemical Hydrogen Charging".

Oct 2021 - Dr. Vaibhav Kathavate joins our group as an Institute Postdoctoral Fellow (IPDF). Welcome!

 

Aug 2021 - Amal Sibi joins our group under the IITB Monash Academy program as a joint PhD candidate with Prof. MJNV Prasad and Prof. Raman Singh (Monash). He will work on the stress corrosion cracking behaviour of magnesium alloys for bio-implant applications. Welcome !

 

June 2021 - Our group's first M.Tech student Ashok has successfully defended his thesis on "Corrosion behaviour of Aluminium containing Cantor alloys". Congratulations and best of luck for your career at Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL).

 

Nov 2020 - Vijayshankar Dandapani receives a successful nomination for Max Planck-India Mobility Grant 2020.

Oct 2020 - A joint DST project on "Development of guidelines for corrosion prevention of water pipelines" with Prof VS Raja and Prof V Jothiprakash (Civil Engg. Dept., IITB) has been approved. 

 

Aug 2020 - Keerthiga Ganesan joins our group as a IITB Monash Academy PhD candidate. She will be working on biocompatible coatings for magnesium alloys in biomedical implant application. She is jointly supervised by Prof. MJNV Prasad (IITB) and Prof. Raman Singh from Monash University. Welcome!

 

Sundaresan Chandramohan also  joins our group as a PhD candidate this Fall 2020. He is jointly supervised by Prof VS Raja and will work on oxidation behaviour of austenitic steels in Advanced Ultra Supercritical Steam (AUSC) conditions.

 

Feb 2020 - Our group's first postdoctoral fellow Dr. Chiranjit Poddar joins. He brings expertise in high temperature corrosion.

​

Jan 2020 - Our group's first PhD student Mr. Rasmi Ranjan Tripathy, M.Sc, joins. He will be working on understanding interfacial reactivity at tailored organic coating/metal (oxide) interfaces using novel potentiometric approach.   

​
