Prof. Vijayshankar Dandapani gave an invited lecture on "Role of surface passive films on electrochemical hydrogen permeation in steels" as part of AWC 2024, Symposium on Water Chemistry and Corrosion in Nuclear Power Plants in Asia, held in Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai, India. Sundaresan Chandramohan presented his work on "Alloy 304HCu and Sanicro 25: Tale of the oxidation behaviours of two austenitic stainless steels in Advanced Ultra-Supercritical steam" at the same conference.

November 2024 - Prof. Vijayshankar Dandapani delivered a lecture on "Hydrogen Permeation based Potentiometry and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy to measure Oxygen Reduction Kinetics" as part of IITB-IoE-SCPP Workshop on Experimental and Machine Learning Aspects of Material Failure under Cyclic Loading and Hydrogen Environments.

Prof. Vijayshankar Dandapani (PI) with Prof. MP Gururajan (Co-PI) and Prof. NJ Balila (Co-PI) receive funding from Centre of Excellence in Oil, Gas and Energy (CoEOGE), IIT Bombay to work on the Mission Mode project "Quantifying impact of hydrogen permeation through pipeline steel weldments with computational phase field modelling for safe and reliable blended hydrogen gas transport". The work will be in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (BPCL) and Gas Authority of India Ltd. (GAIL).

October 2024 - Sundaresan Chandramohan presented his work on "Sanicro 25: A promising austenitic stainless steel alloy for Advanced Ultra Supercritical Steam (AUSC) oxidation environments" at the 22nd International Corrosion Congress 2024, Xi'an, China.

A DST project on "Steam side corrosion studies on Inconel 740 Tube Material for AUSC boilers" with Prof VS Raja as PI has been approved.

September 2024 - Keerthiga Ganesan and Amal Sibi present their respective work on " Effect of Flow Rate of Simulated Human Physiological Fluid in Corrosion of a Magnesium (Mg) Alloy, ZK60 " and " Investigating stress corrosion cracking of ZK60 Mg alloy in a simulated physiological fluid environment" at EUROCORR '24 held in Paris, France.

Rasmi Ranjan Tripathy, Sudha Gautam and Sundaresan Chandramohan present contributory talks at the 5th International Conference and Exhibition on Materials Engineering and Technology & Advances in Heat Treatment organized by ASM International India Chapter in Mumbai.

Sudha Gautam has been selected for the Sakura Science Exchange program to visit University of Tsukuba, Japan during Dec 2024. She will work with Prof. Takahiro Kondo and Prof. Takeaki Sakurai.
August 2024 - Prof. Vijayshankar Dandapani receives funding from 6th BRICS STI Framework Programme Call 2023: Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation to work on the project "Delamination damages in pipelines transporting hydrogen and CO2-H2O mixtures due to oxide reduction".

Dec 2021 - Sudha Gautam joins our group as a PhD candidate to work on the effect of stress and microstructure on hydrogen diffusion in dual phase steel.
Nov 2021 - Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), India funds our Startup Research Grant (SRG) proposal on "Hydrogen Diffusion during Deformation of Dual Phase Steel with Different Martensite Content: Novel Tensile Testing under In-situ Electrochemical Hydrogen Charging".

Aug 2020 - Keerthiga Ganesan joins our group as a IITB Monash Academy PhD candidate. She will be working on biocompatible coatings for magnesium alloys in biomedical implant application. She is jointly supervised by Prof. MJNV Prasad (IITB) and Prof. Raman Singh from Monash University. Welcome!
Sundaresan Chandramohan also joins our group as a PhD candidate this Fall 2020. He is jointly supervised by Prof VS Raja and will work on oxidation behaviour of austenitic steels in Advanced Ultra Supercritical Steam (AUSC) conditions.
Feb 2020 - Our group's first postdoctoral fellow Dr. Chiranjit Poddar joins. He brings expertise in high temperature corrosion.

Jan 2020 - Our group's first PhD student Mr. Rasmi Ranjan Tripathy, M.Sc, joins. He will be working on understanding interfacial reactivity at tailored organic coating/metal (oxide) interfaces using novel potentiometric approach.
